A recovery drive is a backup of your system, which is built into any external drive like a USB or DVD. If your internal hard disk fails to boot up your system It will help to boot up your system.
If you are using a computer system then you must face many common problems like blue screen, stuck during booting, or startup problem. In that case, you must think to format your c-drive.
After formatting the c drive you must get back your system and data in another drive. But you need to install all the existing apps, drivers, and your favorite games also.
But if you have a recovery USB drive then you can recover your system from these common situations. You do not always have to format your c drive.
Before pc or laptop came with a cd or DVD which contains the system image recovery file. But nowadays all the laptops are coming with a preinstalled operating system.
Also, Manufacture puts the recovery image file in a hidden partition of your existing drive.
But if you do not own this then you can create a recovery USB drive for your computer system. You can easily create a recovery drive just follow the below step by step guide.
To create a recovery drive you need a USB drive that is a minimum of 16 GB in size. Generally, we use USB 2.0 but if you use 3.0 then it work much faster.
Note that your USB drive should not contain any important data. If it contains any data then backup in a safe place.
Because when you are going to create a recovery drive, windows automatically format your USB drive. It contains only a windows batch file. Which will help your system to recover by fixing corrupted files. So let's move on to the main topic.
Step 1: First Insert your USB drive.
Step 2: Then you need to open the windows recovery tool. For that type“Recovery” in the search box. Then select create a recovery drive and open it. A user account control pop-up opens select yes.
You can also open the recovery tool by using the control panel. Just open control panel > Select system & security > Security & Maintenance > Select the last option recovery > Create a recovery drive.
Step 3: After opening the recovery drive tool make sure that backup system files to the recovery drive option are checked. You can uncheck it. But my personal suggestion is that you select it. Because it will save all the data installed in your c-drive. In the future When you recover your windows, you will get back all of your information and application.
Step 4: Now click on next.
Step 5: It will check your connected USB drive and systems drive. It can take up to 5 mins. After checking your system it will show the available USB drive. You can make sure by checking the drive letter. Then click on next.
Step 6: It will show you a warning that all the available data stored in the USB drive will be erased. If you have no important data for backup then select create.
It will start creating your recovery drive. It can take up to 15-20 mins depending on your USB writing speed.
Below are some of the questions that most people ask. So I added the answer to my readers in this article.
No, you cannot create recovery media from another computer. If both laptops are the same make and model then you can create a recovery drive.
If you try to create a recovery disk from another pc that is totally different from your system then it does not work for you. Because recovery disk contains drivers that can never install on your pc.
In that case, you can use a bootable USB drive to repair your pc that can be made from another system.
1. Insert a bootable pendrive into your system and then restart.
2. Now enter in boot menu by pressing the booting key. If you are not sure you can search it on google by model number.
3. When your computer came into the installation environment just select repair your computer.
4. Now select troubleshoot > advanced option > start-up repair.
By start-up repair, you can easily fix it. By this process, only a c-drive will format. All the installed apps going to uninstall.
If your laptop or computer came with preloaded windows 10 then it's possible. Just you need to log in with your laptop manufacturer's website. Then you can download a recovery disk for windows 10.
Generally, you need a minimum of 16 GB to 32 GB USB drive for windows 10 recovery drive. Try to use a high-speed pendrive like 3.0 if your laptop support for faster operation.
Actually, it depends on your c-drive. How much data and which type of data is stored on it. If you use USB 3.0 and your storage device is SSD then it can take less time.
Generally, if your c-drive contains 60 GB of data and you use a pendrive 3.0 then it can take up to 15 mins.
So friends I think now it's going very easy for you to create windows 10 recovery USB for your system. Personally, I would suggest you set up a recovery disk for your system.
